On September 7, 1961 six Corvette owners met at a home in Vienna, Ohio to discuss the possibilities of forming a club. A club was formed and named the Mahoning Valley Corvettes. The club was incorporated under the state laws of Ohio on January 1, 1962 with five charter members. The Mahoning Valley Corvettes held its first official meeting on January 6, 1962 at the Youngstown Municipal Airport in Vienna, Ohio.
The Mahoning Valley Corvettes celebrated its 50th year by having a group photo taken at the Youngstown Air Force Reserve Station in Vienna, Ohio with the 910th Airlift Wing, Colonel Reinhard Schmidt, Air Wing Commander. The photos were taken on the “flight line” on August 18, 2012 in front of one of the C-130 Cargo planes based there.
The mission of the Mahoning Valley Corvettes is to foster and encourage the interest in and enjoyment of the Corvette marque. The policies and objectives of the club shall be to generate a friendly relationship among Corvette owners and enthusiasts. Events and activities shall be scheduled each year to foster Corvette enjoyment, demonstrate Corvette ownership and beauty to the public and to provide fund raising activities for various charitable organizations.
The MVC is a very active club, hosting great social events such as cruises and car shows. Our premier event is our annual car show, which is held at Greenwood Chevrolet in Austintown, Ohio. Most of the proceeds go to various charities in the Mahoning Valley.
